The Silesian Culture Centre in Swietochlowice was established on 1 January 2004 by decision of the City Council to organise and coordinate cultural events in the city. Drawing on the experience and technical facilities of the former "Zgoda" and "Grota" community centres, our institution fulfils its mission by developing cooperation with other cultural hubs, professional and amateur artists, while supporting and promoting young creators.
The centre operates in three buildings located in the Lipiny and Zgoda districts. This gives us an intimate stage (around 200 seats) and an auditorium (around 400 seats with flexible layouts) with a deep stage (18 m x 10 m) and technical facilities. The CKŚ Zgoda building is set in a picturesque park. An integral part of the institution is the Art Gallery at CKŚ Lipiny, showcasing work by artists from Poland and abroad. In 2015 the KWK Polska Towers site was added to the CKS portfolio; it quickly became part of the Industrial Monuments Route and an important cultural spot for the city and region.
The goal of the Silesian Culture Centre in Swietochlowice is to build and support culture, entertainment and art as important, creative areas in the city and region that shape residents' quality of life.
